Thomas Lawrence is the earliest identified ancestor of the post-World War II Smith generation. After his death, his widow Joane later remarried John Tuttell, who accompanied her and her sons to the Massachusetts Bay Colony aboard the Planter in 1635. This migration established the Lawrence family in America.
